Samsung Tizen OS: What's New In It ?

Tizen Operating System has been developed from years, but Samsung has come first to launch it as OS in phone with company's new smartphone "Samsung Z". Up until now, Samsung has been using Google's Android OS in its all smartphone, but the electronics giant has conveyed its intent to go it alone, offering an alternative to Android, iOS and Windows Phone.

What make it different form other OS:
  • Tizen's theming system- You can change the primary highlight color, from default blue to green, or pink, or black.
  • Tizen largely feels like "TouchWiz". The apps on Tizen all feel a little dumbed-down, through. It has fewer options, controls and less information. Options and commands are also difficult to discover since many many of them are hidden behind a hardware menu button.
Tizen Features:
  1. It's Open Source: Samsung has developed it with Intel on Linux based platform built from Nokia and Intel's ditched MeeGo. As it is open-source, like Android, hardware manufactures are free to play with the interface and the UI to make it as unique as they like.
  2. HTML 5: It is HTML5-based operating system, which is good for content creators since the platform will allow for shorter development cycles, works intuitively with the wave which ultimately lower the cost of customizing. On user point of view, slicker mobile web applications for phones and tablets can be accepted. There should be greater native support for video which will save you to download plug-ins to watch online audios and videos.
  3. Not Just for Smartphone: The OS aims to offer integrated experience across multiple devices, so we can expect to see it featured in TVs, laptops and even in the bank and car industries, as per told by Samsung Electronics co-CEO J.K. Shin. Tablets running Tizen have already reached the hands of developers. The first official Tizen device, the 20.3-megapixel Samsung NX300M camera was announced in late 2013 and now we have the first Tizen smartphone too.
  4. Apps: Apps play very big deal in growth and success of any OS as it's is seen in Windows Phone. It's good to know that Tizen will support native and web apps just as it did for Bada. You can download verious apps from Best Tizen Apps site.

Future of Tizen:
While Samusng has dipped its toe in the water with its first devices running the OS there's still a long way to go before we see it as the main platform.  Will we see it in the Samsung Galaxy S7? It's too early to tell but the Galaxy S6 maker is looking at where to go next with Tizen.  Version 2.3.0_Rev2 is already in the works.

Like Android, there will be multi-user profiles as well as support for games and app that require more advanced 3D graphics. This update is expected in mid 2015.
